>> >> All right. Well, good morning everyone and welcome to our Saturday morning business training with Isagenix. My name is Kjersti Coty your host and it’s a beautiful day today. Oh, my goodness. Life really is so full. I know it is for all of you on the line. Isagenix is growing with leaps and bounds. It’s a very good time to kind of take a look back at what you’ve been able to accomplish over this last year and — and of course this morning we have the wonderful David Wood with us. And I cannot wait for him to share all that he’s going to share and nourish and feed us this morning, but I do want to let everybody know that it’s about let’s see 99 — 97 days until the end of 2009. 97 days. Actually Wednesday marked the 100th day, you know, countdown until the end of the year and it’s just like I said a fabulous time to really reflect and kind of hone in on your goals and what’s going to be taking place over the next 97 days. So with that I would love to bring David Wood on. I know that there’s probably a lot of people on the line that are brand new to Isagenix and let me tell you we are so blessed to have David as a part of our Isagenix family. You know, doing all that he’s doing for the company for the field. A little bit about his background. First of all he has two amazing sons, Calvin and Ben and we were just talking about them right before the call. What amazing boys he has and it’s been a lot of fun to be able to see them at the events, see them up on stage and to see David interact with his sons. It’s just — it’s a wonderful thing. They reside in Colona, BC. And of course from the time that he was in his late teens up until maybe about I — maybe 10 years ago. I’m not quite sure on that, David, you might have to you know set the record, but he has lived, traveled and worked in over 40 different countries around the globe. Literally you know landing in a new area, you know, beginning — starting from the beginning earning enough to travel on and go to the next country or to the next city or village and what an experience he’s had throughout a lifetime being able to do that. He is one of the world’s foremost master trainers. He actually came on board in Isagenix in late of 2006. And the first time that I actually met David was in February of 2007. And I’ll never forget actually meeting David and Michelle his partner and just the energy that was — that these two emulated was phenomenal and I kept saying to — you know, before the event started I kept saying to all these top winners, like, who is that? You know, who is this? You know, and they’d be like I don’t know. I don’t know, you know. Anyhow, it was — it was an amazing first event for me back in February of 2007 and since then David and Michelle and their whole team have lead many, many phenomenal events. He’s actually responsible for leading and training and guiding all of our field through all of these events. They are exclusive to our company and they really help people to discover their greatness, providing them knowledge and support to achieve their goals. So he holds the title of senior vice president and chief training officer. And like I said we are very, very thrilled to have him a part of our Isagenix family. So with that good morning, David, and welcome to the call.
>> Good morning, Kjersti. I just — I was so exciting. I think back our last call and it just — you know, it never comes fast enough when we get to speak again. And like you said, we were just chatting about the kids and you know your three beautiful children and Calvin and Ben and what they’re up to. And you know how they inspire us and challenge us so. But I just want to say, Kjersti, again you know even when I call in the office and I hear your voice on the recordings and just say you really are the voice of Isagenix and we’re so, so lucky to have you and everything you bring and the light you bring to Isagenix. So thank you so much.
>> Well, thank you. You know, David, I was talking to someone the other day and we were talking about how instrumental you’ve been in Isagenix and I said oh, my goodness. And I know I mentioned this on the last call that you and I did, but I — I have so much more to learn and I have more growth to experience as an individual, but from where I started in February of 2007 up until now there are so many times you know during the week where something will come up and I’ll just think I’m handling this differently than I would have and I’m so grateful to David Wood for opening my eyes and teaching and you know when I think of you and Michelle I just I think of both of you being transparent, open, you know, loving, true love for people. And you’re not one to be harsh or to criticize. You are just really fine, fine examples to myself and really to everybody in Isagenix so I have to say that thank you for allowing me and helping me I should say to grow over the last couple of years. It’s been a blast. It’s been a blast getting to know you guys.
>> Thank you. And I think that you know the brand new people listening on right now and you know it may be even strange to hear kind of this kind of conversation because it’s not the general conversation that goes on by the water fountain or you know in a high street. You know people talk about growing and expanding, you know, a lot of people are busy being busy. Busy you know just sort of getting by and getting up in the morning and running so hard and you know getting the kids to school and then off the work and then back and then dinner and then T.V. and bed, right? And life goes very, very quickly. You know, I just had my dad here. My dad’s 81 and he lives in Germany. His wife had a stroke about nine years ago. And you know she lost the use of the left side of her body and my dad you know he moved out of England. My dad’s British and you know he moved to a small town in Germany where she could — it’s easier for her to — she doesn’t speak very well anymore, but to — to speak in German. So now he lives in a small village in Germany you know and sort of nursing his wife which has been nine years. It’s almost a decade. You know, and when he came here, you know, we just had him here for a couple of weeks and what I did was I — when we were in Australia this year I bumped into his — one of his best friends from when he was a young man. They were like inseparable, but they’ve only seen each other three times in the last 60 years. So I convinced him to come over and surprise my dad, you know, and so you know I pretended I was going to the air port to pick up somebody and there’s my dad’s best friend. And you know they just spent these last two weeks together. And it really makes me think as I sat there last night. He left today. I sat — we stayed up til about 3:00 this morning just talking. You know, here he is 81 you know and he’s in that short of that final stages of our lives, you know, those last hopefully 20 years, 25 years hopefully, but you know you can see the horizon ahead of you, you know and it’s certainly that people around him his age start to think old except Jimmy Smith of course, but you know he’s a rare breed. But you know start think age and you know and start to talk about and start to use a different a different language. And that really makes me wonder about anyone listening on the call is you know if you put yourself in that position and you know you’re thinking about that last breath, that last gasp of air how do you want it to sound? You know, how do you want it to sound? Is it going to be yes, yahoo, I’m excited or is it going to be oh, if only, what if. You know, I should have. I should have done that, I should have this. You know, don’t should all over yourself. You know it’s just a question of how do you want it to be. And I think today’s call, Kjersti, I think we have a real opportunity hopefully for especially those new people who don’t understand this culture of continuous growth, the ability to be in a culture where like you say you handle things differently because of who you’ve become, who you’ve become. And each of us the person I was when I joined Isagenix three years ago is completely different of the person of the person I’ve become today because we have this remarkable culture of expansion. And I think again listening for the first time especially if you’re the first time or you’re new or you’re kind of maybe stuck. A lot of people get stuck. You know what it is they want this dream, but they get — they find themselves in a place of stuckness where they don’t really know how to get out of it. They want it all and they can see other people enjoying it, but they move again into this place where you know their actions don’t support the dreams that they want. So I think we got a real opportunity today, Kjersti, to help some people move forward.
>> Yeah, absolutely. And that’s what I love about what you’ve brought to the table with Isa — you know, to Isagenix is the opportunity to grow and to expand and for — to provide an opportunity for people to not feel like they’re being left behind. And all people really need to do is commit you know go to some of your events, listen in on these amazing calls, take notes and really apply the knowledge that you’ll be giving them, you know, even today. Obviously the title of the call is your Journey to Success. Like I said, 97 days till the end of the year. You know, the question was asked, what have you accomplished so far in 2009 and this was directed to our field. And also with that being said is what else do you — do you want to accomplish between now and the end of 2009. So maybe you can kind of inspire people of — you know because at this point in time there might be people on the line that have set out goals, that may not have yet or you know have not accomplished them yet, have yet still to accomplish them. What kind of advice or inspiration could you give them when it comes to goal setting?
>> Well, I think there’s a few things, but when you said 97 days till the end of the year I think it’s also important when we talk about goal setting is to remind everyone there’s only 97 days left in the millionaire pool contest. Those of you listening that you know wanted to be a part of that, you know, this is something that you could really go after and get to share in that pool. So again if you don’t know anything about that just go into the back office or actually up by the leader and find out how you can get something in front of you because that’s what you need, with a goal you have to have something in front of you. And you know that’s funny because I was talking about goal setting today. I was phoning anyone who hasn’t watched the new Beyond Courage video. I don’t know if you’ve seen it yet Kjersti, but on my website, www.davidtraining.com, davidtraining.com I have some free trainings on there, but there’s a video on there, interactive video where you can find out about one of our upcoming programs Beyond Courage. And today I was phoning some people back because they got to sort of push a submit button if they wanted me to call them about it and just sort of ask them. And it’s really funny because you know often time and money becomes the obstacle in people’s life. Time, money and fear. You know, fear of the unknown are those three big obstacles that stand in front of us. And there’s this idea then that if you are right now — if I was ask you to — challenge you to say, hey listen there’s something coming up in a few weeks and it’s a few thousand dollars, you know people’s minds immediately go somewhere. All right. And it’s a default mode. It’s kind of — it’s a conditioned mode that we get into. And you hear it coming out your mouth. Your kids will come in running going said dad do you want to come out and play basketball or baseball? Ah, I don’t have the time. Do you want to on this — should we go on vacation? I don’t have the time. So default mode is something that keeps coming up in your life over, and over, and over again. Don’t have the time or don’t have the money. Oh, we can’t afford it. I don’t have the money. We can’t afford it. I don’t have the money. And so a lot of people get stuck in that place of don’t have the time, don’t have the money instead of asking a new type of question. I think that you know when we start to set goals we have to start to ask a better question of ourselves. How can I make the time? How can I afford the time? And I think the questions is really a good place to start before we start setting our goals. You know, so what do I really, really want? What do I want? You know, a lot of us don’t ever sit down and do that. And I often sit down with people and I’ll say — and I’m teaching my kids that right now is hey I honestly deep down inside it doesn’t interest whether my sons get all A’s. I mean, you know great if they do, it’s fine. However, if they were to discover their purpose and passion and live a life of passion and purpose. I mean, I would trade every A and every great thing — if they were discover that and live a life of passion. All right. So by asking that question what is it I really, really want? What makes me bounce to life? What am I attracting in my life right now? Do I like what I’m attracting in my life right now? Am I getting the outcomes that I want? What’s the lesson I can learn from this situation? These are a different type of question where they’re responsibility questions. And I always say that before we start goal setting we have to really first of all take full responsibility for everything that’s in our life and everything that’s not in our life. Because as soon as we take 100 percent responsibility there’s no one left to blame except us. And blame isn’t a great thing. You don’t have to blame yourself, you just take responsibility for it. Because then you say well if I’m taking 100 percent responsibility that means I can’t blame my upbringing, I can’t blame where I live, I can’t blame my parents, I can’t blame my grandparents, I can’t blame my education. I just simply take responsibility to say, hey, what is it I want and am I prepared to do something about it now? So before we set big goals we have to be a master of setting small goals. And I had that happen today with my son Ben. They’re my greatest teachers, right? So Ben gets up this morning and he was a — well, he didn’t feel well and you know he looks at me he says, oh, dad, I’m not feeling well. The alarm just went off at 6:30, you know, and I said, okay, I said well just get up and we’ll see how you feel. You know and he says oh, okay. You know, and he goes outside he’s make a shake and the first thing that happens is it explodes all over his chest. Now he’s got — he’s covered in powder, he’s not feeling great and you could tell it’s like, oh, all right. And then he clears up that mess and then he knocks over his shake and now he’s spilling it all over the side and — because he’s in one of those sinks, he starts to spiral. His energy starts to attract more and more of what he doesn’t want. And I heard his language. He said, oh, it’s a bad day, something like that. He said something like that. And that’s not like him. I don’t hear that come from his mouth very often. And I walked in and I interrupted and I grabbed him by the little face, I looked at him, I said, Ben, I said, do you know you have full choice right now? You can choose to think that way or you can choose a completely new way of thinking. What do you want to choose? I said it’s up to you right now to choose completely differently. And you can recreate this. So right now — you know and I didn’t go into it too deeply and he looks at me and he knows that what I love about his personality is that he can get really angry and really upset and then he can get through it really fast. He lets it go in seconds and sometimes seconds, sometimes a couple of minutes, but never long. Boom. And I watched him just transform into the way he was thinking, boom. And everything started to fall into place and he ran into school. I watched him, he was laughing, he was joking as he ran into school, right? And I’m thinking there he is. He was a master of the change of his state. Again, before we start the goal set we have to really understand that we are the masters of our destiny. Our reality that we live in is purely from the thoughts that we choose to think. And those thoughts come from the questions that we ask ourselves. You know, what’s wrong with today? What’s right with today? What’s right with this moment? What’s right with the fact that this just fell over? How we ask these questions determine what we — how we feel. How we feel determines what actions we’re willing to take. So when it comes to goal setting I know I’m beleaguering that, but you know you can just write down a goal right now, but unless you have a strategy to be able to overcome the obstacles as you hit them and the beauty I’ve learned is the bigger the obstacle the more I grow. I love the heat. I love it when things are going wrong. I love it when, you know, when things are blowing up, when things break. Because I know I get the opportunity to grow myself. It’s not what happens, it’s how I deal with what happens. So a lot of people set goals especially in January the 1st and by January the 14th those goals are out the window. They’re gone. They’ve forgotten all about them and somehow we convince ourself that we didn’t even do it. We just go on and then we don’t trust ourselves anymore. And a lifetime of saying we’re going to do something and we don’t we develop a distrust of our own ability. So a lot of you right now might be listening. If you’re not getting the things you want you may be in a level of distrust with self. Well, that’s easy to start trusting yourself. You start saying you’re going to do something and do it. Tiny things. You know, I’m going to clean the fridge, well clean the fridge, boom, yeah, celebrate you got it done. I’m going to move these plates from the side into the dishwasher. Yahoo got it done, great. You know and you can start to build a trust in yourself by saying you’re going to do something and following through. So I always say one of the greatest ways to set long-terms goals is to be able to seize the moment. If we can seize the moment like Ben did. He was in a moment that was cascading out of control. He had it explode over him, he knocked over his shake, he wasn’t feeling good, his throat was sore, he had like watery eyes. The whole thing felt like the weight of the world was on his little shoulders, right? And he still has to get ready for school, he still had some reading to do, he still had to pack, he had a guitar practice. All these different things going on and this was all ahead of him. This was before he went to school. Boom, in the moment he chose, he chose to feel and be and do something else. He chose to focus his attention on what he wanted not on what was happening. Not on the circumstances oh I don’t have the money, oh, I don’t have the time. That’s a circumstance. What do I want? I want to go to beyond courage, boom, that’s what I want. Focus on what you want. Now, what do I need to do to get there? I need to take a new level of action because if I keep doing what I’m doing I’m going to keep getting what I’m getting. So suddenly I choose what I want. What is it I want? I want that. Okay. Now what is it going to cost me? What do I need to earn. Break it down into moment. This moment I’m going to determine and the next moment I’ll determine. And so what I’d really love right now and Jen talked about it, Jen Smith at Celebration this year, is really 30 day sprints. Is really looking at a 30 day goal. Take a bite size goal, so if you know what you want, all right, you know what that looks like you break it down and what’s a realistic 30 day plan? And here’s the beauty. Here’s what I love. There’s the magic. This is what Ben did differently this morning. He took a new action. He jumped into a new action. He let go of the old stuff going on that everything — that cascaded, boom, he chose and he moved into with a new authority, a new certainty. He didn’t keep walking around with his shoulders slumped and his eyes all watery. He changed his physiology, he moved into what he wanted, boom and everything changed. We have the opportunity right now is we need to take a new level of action. So the beauty then, Kjersti, is we don’t just know what we want we have to — we have to take action. And the miracle is in the action because it’s going to propel us forward. Now, what stops us from taking action? The thing that stops us from taking action is fear mostly, right? And what’s fear? People always say fear is false evidence appearing real, but it’s not. It’s the anticipation of pain. The anticipation of pain and now what’s anticipation? Is it past, present or future? It is future. It’s imagined. Fear only can live in our imagination. It doesn’t exist in the present moment. So what we have to do is live in the present, we have to take action and in the action we’re going to feel fear, uncertainty, doubt, all right, these things come up because the brain has a mechanism in it that triggers every time we try something new it triggers chemicals that come up as fear, uncertainty and doubt. Apprehension, all right, and that little seed of doubt, and most people when they feel that they retreat. Now if you look at all the people that are succeeding and getting what they want they are masters of taking action and managing their state and knowing exactly what it is they want and knowing exactly why they want it. So if you don’t know why you’re doing this right now and you don’t know clearly what you want trust me you are going to spin into a cycle where at 81 when you’re sitting on the couch with your son you maybe thinking I wish I spent more time with my son, I wish I’d only done this, you know, if only I’d taken that Isagenix opportunity and grasped it with both hands and done something about it I would be living a very different life right now. That’s the beauty of seizing the moment. So I’m going to hand it back to you Kjersti because I know you probably have some questions because I’m going — you know me I get excited I just –
>> Yeah, well, you know everything that you’re saying is so beautiful and the fear of — you know, I got to say that a couple of processes that you did when we — with some of the you know events that you’ve put on it — those processes that you took all of us through mine — those things that I need to over — that I needed to overcome myself it was fear. And the fear of failure or the fear of rejection or whatever the case is that was actually keeping me from moving forward in certain areas of my life. And so I really appreciate you bringing that up because that is a big deal. Now what I’d like for you to kind of venture into now is peoples why. And I know that I shared with you a little earlier on doing just a small little process with some of my people in my area of asking people why their why is. What really — why are they involved in Isagenix, why do they have the goals that they have set. What is it really that they’re — that they’re wanting to — that drives them everyday when they get up. So as far as people really honing in discovering their why, verbalizing it, writing it down, what could you share with everybody about this?
>> Well, I think that you know this is one of the keys. The key to your success is your why or your vision. I mean, you could say a vision is a why. You know, your vision of why — what is it that’s going to carry you through the obstacles and you know you’re going to hit them. If you want to grow as a person and Kjersti, I know that you know if you look back on your life and you look at how you’ve grown typically it’s in the face of adversity or obstacles where you’ve expanded, you know, and you’ve grown and so really — but what keeps you going? When you look at your beautiful daughter’s eyes, Alexa’s eyes, if you look into her eyes you know that there’s something that’s going to push you and typically you know we can talk about our families, we can talk about contribution, you know, wanting to make a difference. I know that when I dig down I often say there’s three states of life. There’s the learning stage when we’re at school, there’s the working stage where we go to work and there’s the stage — that third stage which most people get to of contribution. Now some of us are fortunate that we discover contribution at a much earlier stage. And that’s what I do with my kids right now. In fact Calvin’s just raising money right now for his school and I really — I want them to really understand that they have the power to do more, so you know if an average kid is going to raise $10 I’d expect both my boys to go out and raise $500 because I think that if they can grow the ability to know that they can contribute and they can make a difference that they can — they can do it early, they can get it inside of them. So you know that’s why I’ll spend hours with them when they are going to go out and knock on doors I don’t mind walking out there I’ll hide behind bushes so no one sees me, but I don’t mind being out there and being a cheerleader for them while they do that. So the idea then is that if we know that we want to contribute that’s your why that you know that you want to leave a legacy. You want to leave a mark on this world. Do you know that you are not — when you are sitting 81 on your son on the couch here looking across at a young man, you say, you know, I — my life has made a difference. I’ve made a difference. And a big difference. Not just — I don’t mean globally. Because the difference that you can make is right here in your home first. You know, in your street where you live and you know we talked earlier, Kjersti, about you know you volunteering at the school. You know really contributing to the well being of these students’ minds and bringing your love and your energy into those classrooms knowing that just by your presence that you are making a significant difference in the journey these children will experience in their life. The contribution could be in many, many forms, but that may be your why. But it really is important to dig down and start to ask yourself a series of questions. What is it that’s going to drive you when you want to quit? What’s going to drive you when you hear the word no? What’s going to drive you when everything around you is falling down? What’s going to drive you? What’s going to get you up? And I — if I think about it — think about it this way. If you have someone that you deeply love and that person was in an accident and you were miles and miles away from any kind of a help what capacity do you have? What capacity do you have to pick that person out even if you don’t have, you know, full health, throw them across your shoulder and carry them, drag them those extra miles into that hospital. The truth is in every single person that I’ve met is that capacity. You hear the idea that a woman can pick up a car off her son or child that’s under a car. You know, this adrenaline surge. What’s possible. They say that we lose — use less than 10 percent of that capacity. That’s what I love about Beyond Courage by the way Kjersti because that’s what we go into. It’s really unlocking that place, we awaken ourselves to a new adventure. So writing ourselves into a bigger story, discovering the greatest part of ourself and that’s what we can do right now on this call just by sitting down and really discovering what it is your are. Why do you want to do this? Why do you want to go through the pain of growing? Why do you want to go on a journey where you’re going to have to deal with the fear — of your fear of rejection, you know, your fear of humiliation. All these different things. What’s going to — what’s going to drive you? Because if you don’t know what your why is the first time you hit a road bump and it may be small one that’s enough to stop you and you’re going to hear yourself say this. You’re going to hear these words. It will be something like this. It doesn’t work. Isagenix doesn’t work. Trust me, ladies and gentlemen, it works. It works perfectly. What’s going to happen is in those moments when you’re challenged which you want to be challenge you want it to tough at times, you want it to be hard because that is — steal is forged in the fire, right? So what you want to be able to do is you want to know that there’s this deep burning reason why, there’s deep vision inside of you that in those moments of apprehension and doubt that you’re going to burst through, that you are going to take that step inspite of your mind screaming to stop, retreat, go back, that’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to ignore that voice in your head and you’re going to take one step, boom, and then another step and you’re going to be driven by that why. And that’s why your why and clearly knowing what it is, have it written down. Absolutely know it without doubt. That’s why it’s so critical with everything you do otherwise you’re going a life, some — most people I know that don’t clearly know what they want and they’re going they lead a life of mediocrity. Where they just basically go day to day to day, and they don’t ever feel full filled and I believe it’s everyone’s birth right to feel completely fulfilled as a human being, to have complete wealth, to have incredible health, to have juicy relationship, to have oodles of friends, that is our birth right as a human being. It’s all here for us and some of us and this is the beauty of Isagenix everyone I believe wants the same thing, but we’re all starting at different places based on our story, our upbringing, our parents, all the different things that happen to us, say, our weight. Some of us have got lost in that department and we’re carrying a lot of weight, all right. So that’s okay. You’re starting there, guess what? You can have the same vision as someone who’s a ripped athlete. The question — and you can get there first. It depends on how badly you want it, you’re clear on your why you know exactly where you’re going to go and in those moments of apprehension those moments of doubt and fear that you’re going to connect arms with your team, you’re going to plug into these core, something [inaudible] you’re going to surround yourself with positive people. That’s a big key. Environment is stronger than will power. You want to be around people who see greater than you and on those moments of doubt they’re going to pull you, they’re going to push you, they’re going to kick you in the bum, they’re going to do whatever they take to get you moving again. And then there’s going to be days where you’ll see them and they’re going to need you to pick ‘em up and dust them down and say come on, come on, we can do this, boom. That’s what it takes, Kjersti.
>> Amazing. And you know some of the things that I was think of first of all I love your verbiage of you know choose the relationships and oodles of friends. And you know going back to you know how people may have been brought up and you know may by settling for mediocrity and them thinking, oh, my gosh. Well, I know what I want, but I — you know, here I am. I blah, blah, blah, you know and it — again it’s the fear of stepping out of the box and really tackling you know life and achieving those goals. But one of the things that I cannot help but think when you were saying that is for instance Susan Sly. When Susan Sly discovered Isagenix she was you know placed in an area of her enrolling sponsors Downline and it wasn’t a hot spot so to speak and she was kind of you know there all by her little lonesome and she had mixed feeling about that when she first came in. And of course I’m sharing this because I know she’s shared it one other conference calls before, but I remember her realizing at one point in time that if she was going to be successful in Isagenix that her success did not depend on others. That success begins with her. And whatever she was going to do was going to bring her to the success that she wanted. It was going to help her achieve the goals that she wanted. And, David, I think that plays into — that example plays into discovering your own strengths that’s within you rather than relying or counting on others to get you through life, whether it’s them making you feel happy or them making you feel like, you know, you belong or rather them belonging to you so to speak when it comes to friendships. So what — you know, with all of that being said, you know, what are the thoughts that are crossing your mind now, you know, in people really that everything that they do in life it does begin with them and then discovering their own strengths?
>> Well, you know, and I think that you know Michelle has a saying she says she has good days and growing days. You know, I think that understanding that — and I do this with my kids, you know, I like to say rather than good days and growing days you have good days and growing moments. You know, because the shorter we can keep ourselves into a position of you know just being stuck, I’ll use that again, but you know there’s a saying that says we’re not limited by our abilities, but we’re limited by our vision. So right now, you know, some of us will — we make up stories. We’re the greatest story making up machines that ever — I mean, human beings I mean. We make up stories about everything, everything. Including who we are and our capacity and our capabilities. And what we do is we pass those stories onto our kids and they make up a story. And their life becomes a reflection of the story that they tell themselves. And your life right now is an exact reflection of the story that you’re stuck in. And I — it doesn’t matter to me whether you know you have lots of money, but you know maybe your relationships aren’t great. Maybe, you know you lack intimacy. Maybe you have you know great relationship, but you lack money and you have few friends. I mean, so I think that if you look around and you look at your — you know, your bank balance you look at the way you live. Do you live in the place that really juices you up or is there a place you walk past often and you say, ah, you know, wouldn’t it be nice to live there? Hey, got get it. It’s there. You know, you’ve been awakened already. There’s something in front of you. There’s a goal right there that home that you walk by and you say, oh, I’d love to live there. Go get it. That’s our birth right. So the idea is, yes, we have to call on the resource inside of ourselves, but we have to find and we just have to believe that you were born exactly the same as Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, you name them, Oprah Winfrey, you know, Mother Teresa. Anyone that inspires you, Richard Branson, you name anyone that inspires you you’re exactly the same. You were born the same way. It’s just that they told themselves a different story. Their path led them to a different outcome because the story that they’re stuck in. Because trust me I mean I grew up and I don’t want to beleaguer this point, but I grew up you know in a world that was quite, you know, it was a very different world, right? And it was — I believed myself to be a bit of a loser. I left school at 15, you know, I could hardly read and write. My teacher said I’d end up in jail and you know I went on and on and on, you know, and I definitely in a story. I was in a poverty story. My mom has always been broke. She’s you know poverty stricken raising four kids on her own. You know, this whole thing and I was stuck in a story. And it was only when I learned to unstick myself that I realized that the whole world was at my fingertips. I can have anything I want now because I choose to tell myself a different story. I am not stuck in a story that says, hey, you still have no education. That story doesn’t exist in my mind. I know a lot of people on this call that will stay they’re stuck because they don’t have an education. That the job they get will — you know if you believe for example you know how our beliefs in ourself. If you believe that you know your education is important and that because you lack education you can only get a certain paying job. You may be earning 15 or $20 an hour, right? Because of that belief, that thought, that story you tell yourself. Yet every multimillionaire, most of them and billionaires if you go into their history a lot of them left school young. They left school, they didn’t finish school, right? Myself included. I didn’t finish school. Now I’m not saying that’s an excuse for you all to jump out of school, don’t. I’d love to have both. I wish I’d had the education and what I got my street education. So the idea though is that billionaires and multi, multimillionaires that are out there right now that left school young they do not have the story that their education plays any role in their income. But that’s the story you choose to tell yourself. That’s the beauty of Isagenix. What I love about Isagenix is we have people making $200,000 a month and we have people making you know $200 a month and we have people making you know $1,000 a month and $15,000 a month. Depending on the story they’re telling themself and their ability to take action and their belief that they can have whatever they want and their certainty about their why will determine what income you’re on right now. And Susan Sly’s a great example of that. You know where look at her income right now she’s a multimillionaire, all right, she’s going to be a multi, multi, multi, multi, multimillionaire in the coming years. You know, her husband joined her in the business. She retired her husband. She just had a fourth baby. So those of you on the line right now saying well, you don’t understand I’m a single mom or I’m a mom you know and I have four kids and I’m busy. Yeah, I understand that. That’s a story too, but there’s another story. How about being a mom — Jen Smith is a mom, you know, and she made a half a million dollars her first year in Isagenix as a busy mom. Her kids are very, very busy. She’s very, very busy, but her story isn’t about being a mom and being — having no time. Her story is one about being a mom and having ample time to be a great mom and be a dynamic leader in Isagenix and she chooses to have both and that’s your — and that’s what I — again, I attempt to teach my children is they have a choice in every moment to determine the story they’re telling themselves. So I think Kjersti that’s probably how I think about that.
>> That’s amazing. I love that. And really kind of giving the whole — the fact that we’re the best storytellers in the world and that really what — whatever we’re telling ourselves it really is the story of our lives and we can rewrite it, start a new book, start a new chapter, that’s pretty cool. Now I’d like to end with this and that is ways to keep your fire fueled. And what I mean by that is that obviously like you know tonight’s call for example you are feeding and nourishing our listeners. You are you know enlightening us. This is also provided at annual Celebrations, at Isagenix University, at Beyond Courage, your Journey to Stage, Journey to Stage II. People come, they want to grow, they want to learn and listen and really take themselves to the next level. And with all of that being said you provide an amazing environment for people to grow and to learn and then of course it’s time to you know hang up the phone this morning or you know — you know, go home, fly home, drive home after one of your three day events and step back into what I’d like to call reality. You know, going to your husband or going home to your wife and your children. And while there’s so many wonderful aspects of that there’s also distractions that can start to seep in that try to pull people off of track, that try to take them away from their vision or their goals and dreams. So what are some sure fire ways and tips that you can give to people this morning that they can literally write down and implement to keep their fire burning strongly to keep them on track you know to help to encourage a successful environment? What are some of those things?
>> Well, you know, again just so everyone is listening we haven’t planned this call. Like I don’t have a bunch of notes in front of me. So I’m just going to tell you what I do. First of all, gratitude. You know, we like help with an attitude of gratitude everyday and we share gratitude after every meal, you know, doesn’t matter if we have visitors over, but you know two things you’re grateful for today, one thing you were good at today and one thing you look forward to today. You know, and we share that with our family. So focusing on what we’re grateful for is a great starting point. So if you’re on the call right now and you’re broke and you know maybe life isn’t dealing — hasn’t dealt you yet a set of cards that you’re happy with, remember you’re the one that dealt the cards. So we take for 100 percent responsibility for everything not in our life and everything in our life. So first of all, gratitude. Be grateful for the things you have. If you can’t think of anything to be grateful for I want you to hold up one of your fingers in front of your face and wiggle it up and down and be grateful for that. Just think of what it takes for you to move that finger. And then think about someone who has no ability to move any limbs because they’re a quadriplegic and then think of people who have lost limbs or [inaudible]. So we have a tremendous ability to be grateful. And so with gratitude that’s going to start us on a focus where we focus and what we focus on expands. And you got to start focusing your attention on what’s going right. You got to focus on what you want, you got to focus your energy on people that build you up. If you’re around a negative group of people get rid of them, it doesn’t — fire them. You know, get them out of your life. Now if they’re your parents which they may very well be then here’s the idea when you’re around them let the great energy always wins. And I’m around — I still hang around negative people sometimes, but it’s very hard to be negative around me and I don’t get sucked into their negative pool, they get sucked into my high energy pool. So the highest energy is always going to win. So first of all you know like you’re going to — I’m sorry. Second of all you’re going to focus and you’re going to choose your point of focus, and focus on what you want. You’re going to focus on being around positive people. You’re going to focus your attention on — even if it’s one sentence a day. I mean, think of any — you know any great thing. Like I have one written down right in front of me actually it’s funny because I’m in my office. It says vision with action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with vision is making a positive difference. Just a positive sentence. I mean, you can litter them around your house there so you bump into them. You know, write them on your fridge, but surrounding yourself with affirmation. Starting to affirm what it is you want in your life. So affirmation plays a huge part. You got the interrupt the negative conversation that’s going on in your head and if you haven’t listened to my CD Serious Journey’s a Stage. And by the way on my website if you want to get any of the CD’s the newest one Mindset is only five bucks. I did — it’s a great one to put in the car and play it over and over and over again. It’s five dollars. I mean, it doesn’t cost you anything to get it, but it’s like, hey, get something going in your head. Get something like that playing in your car. You got to reprogram because if you’re in — the beautiful thing about the universe, Kjersti, is that it gives you immediate feedback. When you look around you right now you’ll see how you think by the world you live in. So again, money, relationships, everything. So what you got to do is then start to focus your attention. You got to manage the thoughts in your head. You have to put positive things into that head. And more importantly you’re in a community so you don’t have to do this alone. This isn’t a prove it on your own thing. You plug in when you have a crappy day, excuse my expression, you know, ask for help. When you need the help the beauty of Isagenix is any single one of us including you know Jim and Kathy all the way down to the brand new person on this call who just started today, right, then you know every single one of us is going to help you succeed. You got to ask for it though. Leaders ask for what they want, right? So I think environment is critical and then plugging yourself in, start working towards the next event. Make sure you’re in different environments, you know, get to the ISU, get to Beyond Courage, get to you know get to Celebration. Book your ticket even if you can’t afford it do not get stuck in that story. I can’t afford it. Great. Do something else, do something about it, take responsibility. Find a way. You’re sitting on a gold mind, you can. Go out there and share Isagenix, learn how to do this and it’s going to be — is it going to be hard in the beginning? Yeah. For some people it’s hard in the beginning. Is it hard in the middle? Yeah, for some people it’s hard in the middle. However what happens is like Jimmy Smith, you know, he always says this. He says the yeses built my business, but the noes built my character. So you’re going to have to go through some noes. You’re going to have to learn this, but it’s not a hard thing to learn. This is a simple business. You’re going to learn a story. You’re going to learn how to connect with people and share a story and direct them to the tool and you’re going to learn to plug them into an environment where they can grow and have the dreams they want and be who they want. And the beauty is this, right now, you know reinvent yourself. Take responsibility. Hold yourself to a higher standard in every area of your life. Hold yourself in the high standard. Reinvent yourself. And my son Calvin did this last year. Calvin wasn’t doing very well in his last school. He didn’t like the school. You know, he had 34 kids in his class, you know, it was a French school so he loved the French, but that was about it. The teacher wasn’t great. You know and I said to him, I said, Cal, guess what? You know you can recreate your life anytime you want. You don’t have to be stuck there. If you want to change schools, change schools. Now this is two weeks before the end of the year. Now my son’s 11. So if my 11 year old boy he decided — when I said to him you can reinvent your life because it’s the way it is right now it doesn’t have to be. You know and he’s not this team sports guy, right? He does sports, but he does individual sports. He doesn’t do on the team. So you know he wasn’t in the click, right? And that’s kind of what schools do, right? And he went and found a new school and two weeks before the end of the year when he joined that school two weeks before the end — and I was so proud of him because he chose to recreate his life. And he chose to have a new reality. Now that’s his choice at 11 and I’m so proud of the fact that he did that. And this year he went back to the school of course and he loves it and he’s enjoying school and he’s really getting out — but it was his choice. And so if right now you’re not getting what you want you have to manage that story you have to get out of those sorts, you have to — it’s all it is. It all starts with a thought. And how you think is how you live is how you act. Everything in your life right now comes from the thoughts you think. So manage them, change them, plug yourself in and listen, set those goals, a 30 day goal right now you can completely reinvent yourself in 30 days. A completely new person by changing the habits. You have to behave your way into a new reality. You can’t think your way into it. You can’t sit there and meditate your way into it. You have to behave your way into it which means take an action. So it’s taking that step and when you feel you can’t then you must. Every single time you saw doubt and uncertainty you must take action, you have to take a step. You can’t stay stuck otherwise you’re going to be sitting on that couch at 81 years of age with regret in your heart and wishing that you’d done something differently. And if you’re on this call right now and you believe that the universe is on purpose, you’re meant to be hearing these words, hearing these words isn’t enough. It’s taking action. So that’s what I think, Kjersti.
>> I love that. And sometimes, David wouldn’t you agree that taking action is — is not necessarily easy all the time? Like for instance I mean there’s going to be days. I — first of all, let me — before I say what I was going to say I do want to preface it with the fact that I love how you’ve said in the past that you know you’re going to have great days and you’re going to have learning days. There’s going to be days where you’re just going to be like it’s a bad day and that’s the way it is. And then there’s days where you just need time for yourself, you don’t — you just turn the switch off and you just relax, you chill, and then there’s days where you’re on. And so with that being said, I mean, there are going to be days where people know what they need to do and especially if they have 97 days to be able to work their goals, you know, throughout the next 97 days. With all of that being said, you know, would you agree that there is going to be times where they’re not going to feel like moving forward? They’re going to meet their own resistence you know in their own minds and what could you share with everybody you know to help push through that? To help push through that and to just literally do something right away whether they feel like it or not?
>> Well, I think that some days you know you got to like — you got the throw a movie on and you got to — you know, some days you — I call it my slob day. You know, and I don’t have them very often, but some days you think that you need to recharge and just do nothing, you know, because some people are stuck in this constant action. And sometimes they miss — you know, they go so fast they miss the beauty of life, all right, they miss the moment because they’re moving too fast, right? So I think you have to — there’s a balance in there. So I think if you’re listen on the call right now and you’re constantly in action you know then there maybe a part for you to slow right down and take a moment, you know, and take your kids out and role in the grass for a while and just lay there and look at the stars, right? And just really sort of take a breath. And I think that’s really important, but you know when you get stuck it’s okay to get stuck and have uncertainty and you know be — you know you can be stuck there, but the thing is knowing that you choose how long. Like my youngest Ben. He’s really a master at getting out of it quickly, right? And so you know that’s his thing. And then you know — so — but it’s all about you know choosing to help somebody I think is one of the easiest ways out of being stuck. When you’re having a growing day it’s just find somebody to help and it’s an immediate thing. As soon as you put your attention on helping someone else especially if they’re more stuck or if they just started out — that’s the beauty of Isagenix is you’re always a teacher. You’ll always have the ability even if you’ve been in it a week, somebody who came in for a day. Say you’ve only been in for a day you’re already a teacher. You can teach them what you’ve learned in that week. So you can sell — you can help someone. So when you’re in a constant state of contribution and that’s when you’re stuck and the people who suffer with depression — if you’re listening right now and I — not personally I didn’t suffer with depression, but I’ve been around some people who suffer with depression and what I notice was this, when they were stuck in that place — depression is this whole idea of self — you know, it’s really just self absorption. So you’re stuck in this place where you really you just get caught in your own world and it’s — and again, I’m not an expert so if you do suffer, don’t take my word. I’m not minimalizing this, but I’ve watched people who were really stuck in that dark place and suddenly something happened where they had to respond to help someone and it was like the cloak fell off. It was like, vroom and they’re suddenly there and they almost forget, they almost catch themselves [inaudible] away, so I think if you’re ever stuck there think about who can I help today? Who can I phone and maybe I can phone somebody in my team and say, hey, listen, do you want to go through and maybe we can walk through the compensation plan together. Maybe we can get together tonight and you know and we can practice a home party at your place and you know maybe sit down afterwards and watch a movie. I think that that’s really where I think is one of the secret keys, Kjersti, is really about contribution. Simply how can I help someone in this moment. Find someone to help and that’s the same thing. You know, again, one of the things I practice with my kids is you know is really noticing. If there’s homeless guy on the street, you know, I’ll say to Ben, I’ll say, Ben, do you want to buy them lunch? And Ben will go over and I’ll ask Ben to go over. He has to go there and if there’s guys really smelly and pretty scarey, Ben will go over and say, hey, can we buy you lunch? And he’ll go ahead and go buy him lunch, right? And I think that that ability that there’s always someone around us in every second that we can reach out to. And sometimes it’s in a small way like a smile. I think a lot of people I walk down the street and I find people self absorbed to the point of lunacy because I smile at everyone I walk by and I say hi to everyone I walk by. I’m like Crocodile Dundee G’day mate, G’day mate, how’s it going? G’day mate. Right. So the idea is to notice what’s around you. Notice the people around you and smile. Just reach out and smile. You can change someone’s whole day by connecting with them. And the beauty of our business is the first big step is connection, is the ability to connect and that starts by just looking at someone’s eye and even if you smile with your eyes and really notice. And when I look at people I always ask myself question. So I’m curious. I think the work curiosity. Is everyone you pass be curious, have a point of fascination. Who are they? What’s their journey? I wonder what their kids are like? I mean, even if the woman in the store or the old guy in the store, you know, you don’t even know them notice them, notice the clerk, wonder about them. I always do that. You know, you see a lot of young kids behind the counter at the Safeway or something like that. Be curious. I wonder what they’re up to, I wonder — hey, you know, what are you doing? Ask them some question and it just makes life richer and you’re surrounded by millions of people just like you that would love to be in a deeper connection that would love to have more, be more, and do more and you have the key to it right in your hands.
>> Wow. I love it. I absolutely love it. I think its very powerful and I just really from the bottom of my heart I thank you for coming on and as you said before, I mean, there was no script. There was really no plans as far as coming on to the call. Of course I had some questions that I knew I wanted to ask, but for you to just to have opened up your heart and your mind and delivered the knowledge that you did to us this morning we just are forever grateful for you because I know that there’s probably people listening to this. I know there’s a lot of people listening to the call live, but I know that there’s 25,000 people that will download this call in the net four to six weeks. And for everyone that’s listening in there’s no doubt that their lives have been impacted with the knowledge that they’ve received today. So, David, thank you so much for being with us. I can’t wait to see you and Michelle again. It’s going to be a while. November Beyond Courage, woo.
>> Woo hoo.
>> And I just have to say — I just have to say we’ll end it on this, David, is if you have not been to an event with David go for it. You know, do Journey to the State I, do Journey to the Stage II. Go to an Isagenix University because a lot of the things, principles that David goes by are intertwined into that three day event as well. Beyond Courage there is some qualifications for that and — but go into your back office, check it out, find out when it is, how much it cost, get yourself registered, make your airfare reservations and just do it and for anybody on the line that’s going I’ll see you there.
>> I can’t wait to –
>> And, David, give everybody your website one more time because I know on your website some — just amazing, inspiring things. Of course I did see the interaction video that you did for Beyond Courage. I loved it because it was like you were really looking at me waiting for me to click on an icon. I thought it was very clever. So you know for people to learn more, to listen to you more, to gain more knowledge to find out more information what’s your website?
>> Okay. Www.davidtraining.com. Easy. Davidtraining.com and then I’m on Facebook. If you guys want to join me on Facebook you can find me on Facebook I think you just look up David Wood and you can put in Colona, BC I suppose or I think it’s davidwithtraining@gmail.com. Don’t mix that up with my website, but I think on Facebook it’s davidwithtraining@gmail.com, but come and join friends you know we can talk and I do. I manage my own page. I don’t have someone else doing it. I get on there and you know people ask me questions or we just — you know just I share a thought everyday and so I’d love to meet you on Facebook and if not davidtraining.com. Davidtraining.com and there’s free training on there. In fact I have a beautiful call on there with Kjersti where she tells the John Anderson story and so that’s on there. You can listen to that. It’s a great one.
>> Yeah, very good stuff. Very good knowledge on there. So, David, again thank you so much for being with us this morning. And if you would just stay on the line for just a real quick minute here while I wrap everything up with everybody and we’ll both say goodbye, but I just want to remind everybody that this morning’s call has been recorded. It will be posted on the Isagenix podcast at .com website so that you can reference to it at a later time and we love you all. We just want to tell you that we appreciate your time and go out and have you know tons and tons of success and we’ll meet everyone back here next Tuesday night at 6:30 pacific time to hear the Rhoades family share their amazing stories of success with everybody.
