>>Well good evening everyone and welcome to our Thursday night product training with Isagenix international. My name is Kjersti Coté, your host and it’s a pleasure to be here with all of you tonight. We have a very fun and informative call all having to do with your Isagenix summer health plan. You know, what are you gonna be doing over the next 6 weeks, 12 weeks to keep your body in tip top shape and of course looking good during the summer months? There’s so much to do and to have fun with this summer and of course here with us tonight is Suzan Hart.

She’s got a lot of information, a lot of golden tips that you guys are going to be able to take with you and I would really say you know you’re more than welcome to take notes on the call and also to a quick reminder that this call will be recorded in posted in your back office. But I have to say put on your trainers hat as well because as you’re listening to Suzan present tonight, there’s going to be a lot of key points that you’re going to be able to take with you and I’m not only applying your own health and well being but also in helping others to reach their health and wellness goals. So it’s going to be kind of two sided today, I love that. Well let’s get right in to it. I’d love to introduce you then to everybody. She is a 4 star golden circle with Isagenix and believe it or not she’s going to be celebrating her 6th anniversary with Isagenix. About 5 and a half years ago she found this amazing company. She has grown, helped to grow, a huge organization of almost 12,000 associates within her organization. Isn’t that something? And she actually discovered network marketing just prior to Isagenix.

She fell in love with the industry and of course found Isagenix about a year later. But she really comes to the table with a lot of experience when it comes to training and being a success coach. She’s got, you know, 10 plus years of experience when it comes to individual, family and group counseling. Suzan trains in the areas of physical, spiritual and emotional well being, leadership training, helping to develop leaders, and obviously conflict management, change management, healthy communication and you know if you’ve ever had the opportunity to meet Suzan you’ll instantaneously recognize she’s quite the athlete. She’s got a beautiful physique. She’s quite the accomplished athlete. She has had massive amounts of success in the areas of track, basketball and competitive body building which, Suzan, I’ve never seen any of those photos. We’ve got to do a share time here and she’s received some very special, special awards with Isagenix just because you know the company loves to acknowledge people that really step forward and show their leadership and their commitment. So some of those awards that she’s received is the Woman of Isagenix award in 2006 and then she received 2 awards in 2008, 1 of them being the Above and Beyond award, very special and the very, very, prestigious Spirit of Isagenix award so very fun. Now not only does she build her Isagenix business, create leaders, speak and train from the stage but she’s also an author. She actually helped to co-author MLM Woman that she did with Susan Sly and she loves what she’s doing so you’ll really hear the passion that she has for Isagenix and we’re just grateful to have you on the line, Suzan. So good evening and welcome to the call.

>>Suzan: Good evening, Kjersti. How are you? I’m so excited to be here.

>>Kjersti: Oh I am so excited to have you and you know what? I’m doing great. Life couldn’t be any better and I know you probably feel the same. You know it’s amazing to me, Suzan, that you know despite the economic recession, I mean Isagenix is growing with leaps and bounds. On Tuesday night Rick Despain announced you know rank advancements. Hundreds of new consultants broke last week alone and it’s just amazing to see people really take advantage of not only getting themselves healthy but also the financial aspects of you know of the business opportunities that we have at hand. It’s so exciting and I know we’re coming in to our summer months. I know you have something very special planned for us tonight in helping to lay out a plan but before we get into it, I’d love for everybody on the line, especially those who are brand new to Isagenix, to learn a little bit more about you. Take us back. You know, share your 3 minute story. You know, where did it all begin for you and what has your Isagenix journey meant to you? What has it consisted of over the last 5 and a half years?

>>Suzan: Oh my word. You know, Kjersti, I call Isagenix my miracle because it actually answered my silent prayer. You know 5 and a half years ago I was managing a drop-in in a downtown core of the city of Toronto. It was 1 of the largest drop-ins and I was actually their crisis manager. We saw 150 women often had situations that put them in crisis and I managed a team of about 30 staff. And I loved what I did but the stress of the responsibility of that job began to take a toll on my health and I found myself tired. I found myself run down. I’d tell people it did not matter how much I slept, I never woke up feeling rested. And over time I also began to lose weight and I was losing lean muscle mass and concerned. I remember being at work one day and you know literally wanting to just cry because I didn’t have the energy to actually climb a flight of stairs and here I was responsible not only for myself but the team of people as well as you know 150 women who visited this location. And at home I was $50,000 in debt, in a marriage that was falling apart due to the stress, you know that economic stress and we were going to bed every night suffering not knowing what to do. And not even, couldn’t even figure out a solution. And I remember Susan calling me and saying Suzan, you know, I just found this nutritional cleanse. I saw this opportunity. Do you want to take a look at it? I had done a few companies prior and I was a little resistant. I hadn’t had the best success but I loved the industry. And Susan kept calling and I put Isagenix in my body and I tell you literally within about 5 days I felt a shift. I woke up for the first time you know before my alarm clock.

It felt like someone had plugged me into an electrical socket. My energy was back. I felt a sense of well being. You know, I felt really good. I felt like I hadn’t felt in years. And the most curious thing was I didn’t have a weight loss story I didn’t think anybody would notice. When I went into work, I went into my community, and people started asking me, what is going on with you? And they were talking about how bright my eyes were, you know, how clear my skin was. How I just had this peaceful, you know, sense of well being and I thought this is really interesting. And as I kept Isagenix in my body and I felt healthier and healthier and I begin to put my lean muscle mass on. To date I’ve put all 10 pounds on but a curious thing is my lean muscle mass continues to go up and my fat percentage continues to go down and I see that is a recipe for success no matter who you are. Or if you want to put on lean muscle or release pounds and inches, that’s the recipe. So I then looked at the Isagenix compensation plan and you know I think back, I remember calling Susan and saying, is this for real because it looks so simple and I got it instantly. And it was the first time I looked at something and actually thought I could do this. And you know my first few years were my learning curve. You know I kind of became a networker with my Isagenix family and to date you know I am 4 star golden circle, I’m experiencing success, I am, you know like financially I am cash positive and I’m living my dreams. And I look back and it’s hard to believe it’s been, you know, oh my gosh almost 6 years and that so much has changed. Isagenix has changed my financial circumstance, my health. It has allowed me to grow of an individual and sometimes I look at the person in the mirror and I go, who are you? What has happened? It’s absolutely magnificent.

>>Kjersti:  I was commenting on your story because I’m sitting here thinking, ok. You know, even though you loved the industry you were really a skeptic but by day 5, I have to ask you, did you come in with the 9 day cleanse?

>>Suzan: You know what, I came in with the 9 day because that’s all that was available to us and I did my cleanse and it was like my life changed and

>>Kjersti: Now did you do any warm ups or did you just go boom, you know, it was like ok today’s going to be my cleanse day. And you cleanse 2 days of cleanse 5 days of shake, 2 days of cleanse. So that means like on day 5, it was 2 days of cleanse and then you were on your 3rd day of shake and that’s when you really realized, oh my gosh. Now, because of your network marketing experience, you know the power of networking, the power of the numbers, you know working together with your team. You probably took one look at that compensation plan and thought oh my goodness. Like you said, is this for real? I mean I can do this. You know I mean, for those people that are brand new on the line maybe you can share like just a few seconds more on that because I know for myself coming into Isagenix, I mean my dad shared this with me so you know with that being said I really, I had no network marketing experience. In fact I didn’t even know what a compensation plan was until Jim Coover explained it go me. [laughter] And you know to make a long story short I really didn’t get it until you know I saw people starting to get paid but I really didn’t have anything to compare it to so how would you compare what we have? And I know this is a product training but I think this is crucial, especially with today’s economy and people leading with the business.

>>Suzan: Well you know I’ve always heard the adage that when you come into network marketing you’re in business for yourself and not by yourself and I will say to you that you know a lot of compensation plans because you only get paid so many levels deep, they break away, there’s all the, you know volume flushes, oftentimes the experience is that you’re out of someone’s pay line and you are by yourself. And I have experienced you know, that I felt by myself. I wasn’t clear on what I was doing and when I looked at Isagenix because you get paid to unlimited back by 6%, it does not matter where you come in or where someone comes in in your organization because we can reach down and look down for that person that puts their hand up and says I want this. By far the person who can change my business forever can come in on any level. And they can know that I’m going to reach down and assist them and help them achieve their goals. I think that’s one of the distinctions. I think the other one is that 100 BV. To me that qualifies as truly visual in that it doesn’t matter how much, how big my income becomes, what qualifies me from my check is that 100 BV. That to me was mind boggling. And I think the last thing that got me is we don’t have a month end in Isagenix. Well what that means is the month can come 30 days goes and goes again and if I have volume left in my bank, Isagenix doesn’t say the month is over, we’re taking it from you. It sits there until I get paid. Now for a new person who’s just getting the ribbon down, who’s just learning, that is so crucial because you feel — I call it money in the bank. I’ve got money in the bank and it’s going to sit there until I get paid. That to me was one of the key things I saw that I hadn’t seen anywhere.

>>Kjersti: Exactly and that’s what we hear all the time from people that are experienced in this industry. It’s so much fun and it doesn’t matter if you’re just getting started or not. I mean the opportunity is at hand and there’s so much more work to do out there. I love it. Well now let’s get into the key components of you know customizing a plan for these individuals that are on the line, our IsaSummer health plan. And what would you say that the major key components are to developing a health and wellness plan or setting goals?

>>Suzan: You know Kjersti, I was so excited when you called me for this call because I think one of the major key components is actually having a plan and I want to ask everyone on the call, how many of you actually have a plan for your health and how many of you relate to your health as a destination which is an ongoing journey? And I know for myself it was when I began to relate to my health as an ongoing journey that I stepped into every single day of my life, that’s when my health changed. And when I began to set goals and targets around my health, that’s when it was always in the forefront. So what I want to do and what I would recommend everyone on the call to do, do 90 day plans. I do 90 day plans for my business and I actually do a parallel plan for my health. And I look at my health and I go, what do I want to achieve around my health over these 90 days? And you know and it could be you know where do I want to work on around my nutrition if I want to ensure that I’m drinking enough water. Because that’s a habit that not all of us have so that would be something I’m going to take on. It could be, you know, maintaining weight, releasing pounds and inches, building lean muscle, what is it that I want to take on? It could be that I want to take on some medical things.

You know, there are times when we have challenges that are internal that you know changing how you do life or change how that happens. So that might be a goal that you might take on. How about your workouts, your conditioning, cardiovascular strength, stretching? The key thing is to have these core targets and goals, in the same way that we do for our business, around our health. And one of the thing I’ve learned Kjersti is when I keep the conversation around my health alive and on life and what that looks like is when I accept those targets, I have a game plan, then my health stays in the forefront and I do my health differently in all areas. And I think optimal health comes from relating to it, not just on one level. Not just around the weight loss, not just around how I look in my jeans but on all the different levels and then it becomes part of my life versus something I do.

>>Kjersti: Uh huh, yeah and of course talking to you prior to the call you had said, you know, what your goals are. I mean you know why don’t you tell people the important things that you have — are you still there? [noise]

>>Suzan: I’m here.

>>Kjersti: Ok, why don’t you share with everybody you know some of the things that you shared with me prior to the call, that’s important to you, that you make time for because health is not just in one isolated area. You know whether it be, oh I’ve got to take my shakes everyday. I mean you have a lot going on from head to toe [laughter] you know, no pun intended. And you know you have people to help you with it. You know like your health team you were talking about. So you know what are the important things for Suzan Hart when it comes to health and well being?

>>Suzan: Well you know, Kjersti, I break it down into a few areas and one of the first ones is I look at my nutrition and you know when I was in my 20’s it took a lot of you know just beginning to plan and incorporate habits around my nutrition that have extended up to today and then Isagenix constantly brings it to a whole new level. But one of them was my nutrition and taking it all in a very cool way and I’ll say to people, I have created habits in my life where there are certain things I don’t put in my body and there are certain things I do put in my body. And there’s certain things I’ll treat myself to but I have some great habits. And you know summer is coming and you know oftentimes I like to say to people, eat seasonally. You know because summers coming, you’ve got the fresh fruits and vegetables that are available to you. When you’re planning a meal incorporate those and those seasonal vegetables just could spice up your menu. You know we’re all out barbecuing. Well choose those lean proteins. You know fish is great on the barbecue. Lean chicken is great on the barbecue. And what’s good about barbecuing is that you know it’s such a lean way to cook. It’s such a clean healthy way to cook. And you know I always make sure that I have my complex carbs.

The ones I like are the brown, the brown rice. I do like pasta but I eat rice pasta versus a flour based pasta. I like the sweet potatoes. I like yams. I like carbohydrates that are going to go a long way in terms of fueling my body. I call it those clean carbs that you’re body is just able to utilize. Another one is this is a time for salads and the more, you know the body utilizes things that you put into it raw and what a great time of year. You can get the spinach, you can get the lettuce, you can get those fresh vegetables, make those big salads. And one of the tricks I have learned is not to buy salad dressing but to make your salad dressing. Because when you start reading the labels on some of those salad dressings you bring in the store, a salad becomes a light meal until you add the dressing. So what I’ve learned is I actually mix my salad dressing up in the bowl before I make my salad and I toss my salad in that dressing. And what ends up happening is I’m actually using less dressing. I’m really mindful of what’s going into my dressing. I don’t have added ingredients that I don’t desire and I don’t have added calories that I’m not aware of. And you know there’s some wonderful, great salad dressing recipes that you can find that you can tailor to yourself and salads are such a great thing at this time of the year. And you know summer for me is a time to eat light. It’s a time for smaller meals. I encourage people to eat those smaller meals, have 2 shakes and you know maybe 2 to 4 other healthy meals but they’re small. One of the things I’ve learned is if I fuel my body every 2 hours, every 2 to 3 hours, it’s like putting a log on the fire, putting a log on the fire and it keeps my metabolism high. I don’t get into that place where my sugar is off.

I don’t get that real big hunger and I’m fueled all through the day. And in the summer, you must experience this Kjersti, those light meals work so much better. You often are not as hungry so it’s making those great choices and continually refueling your body and I have to say, you know, I continue to cleanse throughout the summer and you know we’ve got some great options now. You’ve got your am/pm cleanse where you’re doing 2 ounces in the morning, 2 ounces in the evening. There’s still those of us who love that wonderful cleansing. I like the combination of the 2. I’ll do my am and pm and you know what? I feel a cleanse day. And I think what’s beautiful about it is I can feel the shift in my body when I do a full cleanse day. I can feel the shift and how I feel I get that light feeling and everyone wants to feel light and lean in the summer and I think we have the perfect recipe for it. So you know the first thing I would say to everyone is plan your nutrition out. I have the tips that I have learned around planning my nutrition because I actually write out my menu, Kjersti, before I walk into the grocery store and I plan it and I plan my meals out for the week. The second thing I do if I’m busy, I do a lot of prep on my downtime. You know if I have some time on the weekend I will prep my meats.

I will prep everything. You know I’ll stick my meat prepared in my freezer so that I don’t come in on a day where I’m rushed and I have to go to a fast food or go get take out because I’m prepared, I’m planning ahead. And you know, and the other thing I do is I follow what I call the 80/20 rule and what that means is 80 percent of my time I eat clean, I eat lean, I eat exceptionally healthy and then 20 percent of the time, and I’m talking over a month, I treat myself. And because I believe that a plan that’s going to be effective, that’s going to give you great results, is a plan that you incorporate into your life where you don’t feel deprived of anything, so I’ll treat myself on the weekend. And my thing, for people who know me, I love cheesecake. I might have a piece of cheesecake. But if I have it sparingly and I’m following my 80/20 rule, it’s not going to make a dent in my health and I’ll feel like I’m treating myself and you know the rest of the time I’m eating really, really healthy. One of the things about the day that you choose to treat yourself, the key to it for me is to never overeat. It’s to eat so you’re full and complete and don’t extend it past that. And you’ll find that even when you treat yourself you’re not eating so much that you’re uncomfortable and therefore it doesn’t create havoc on your long term plan. That would be my first 1. Nutrition would be the first 1 for me.

>>Kjersti: Huge, I mean there’s lots of little golden tips in there and now when it comes to going to the grocery store, I love your little tip on you know plan ahead and go with a list because I think the list allows you to really stay razor focused because there’s so much garbage in the grocery store that people succumbed to buying and spend too much then what they should be and then it goes into the body and it really disrupts your whole, you know health plan here. Another thing that I love is eat for the season. I love that and the 80/20. That’s like you know 4 out of 5 times that you’re actually eating in the week, you know needs to be healthy, clean eating days. Whereas you know like you said it’s like 1 of those days every 5 to 6 days, go and splurge. I love that. And also too I know that there’s people that go onto Isagenix, especially guys, guys that are very large. Guys that are battling their weight and have been for years, they’re normally use to consuming thousands upon thousands upon thousands of calories per day, you know, to maintain their weight and we’ve seen you know men and women but men lose 300 pounds, 200 pounds, 100 pounds, of course women losing 100 pounds and maybe some losing 200 pounds. I know my dad, John Anderson, is personally coaching or is 1 of the coaches to 1 lady in particular who has a lot of health challenges and has a lot of weight to release. But when you’re talking about size portions of food, you know it’s — maybe you can share and just take a few seconds on talking about this too because a lot of times people think, ok the volume of the shake is not much. Or you know eating the small portions, maybe you can take us through the journey of you know eating large portions, whittling it down, the stomach shrinking and all of that good stuff and the importance of actually getting the stomach back to it’s normal size.

>>Suzan: You know, Kjersti, that is such an awesome point and one of the biggest learning’s for me was the whole thing about eating whole foods and I say to people if you come in to my house you will find that I have whole foods. And what that means is a very few things in my cupboard that are canned. There are very few things in my cupboard that actually come in a box. I think the 1 I can think of is probably my rice pasta and most things are fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, I have my grains, I have my protein. I don’t have many things that are canned. I don’t have many things that are processed. One of the things that I found for myself is when you start eating whole foods they are very satisfying and you will end up getting full on less. So that’s 1 of the key things because it tends to add a lot more substance. It tends to add a lot more roughage. It’s just healthier for you.

And I tell people when you start eating you know 1 lean protein, a great complex carb, a sweet potato and some vegetables, all I can tell people is my gosh, this is a lot of food. Well it’s a lot less calories but its great quality nutrition. But one of the beautiful thing about the Isagenix system, why it’s so substantial, is because it has got so much nutrition in it and very little amount of calories. And I formerly believe and I know that my body eats for nutrition. It eats for nutrients and then it has fuel. When I give my body the nutrients it needs it doesn’t crave, it stays fueled longer and I’m eating less. And part of, you know I’m not 1 to teach people to count calories. I tell them you know what? You’re proteins about the size of your fist. You’re carbs and fill the rest of your plate with vegetables and you know those green leafy vegetables, those healthy green leaf, all those things and that’s kind of how I’ve learned to eat and I can do it on sight and I kinda can see that’s what my plate looks like and that’s how I manage it. And I’m 1 for a small meal. I tend to have my complex carbs in the middle of the day because it fuels me for the rest of the day and I tend to do a lean protein and lots of vegetables later on in the evening, particularly if my goal is to reduce body fat and to keep my body fueled. And 1 of the things that Isagenix promotes, which is so great, is you know not limiting any of the food groups. You need that carbohydrate. You need those fats. You need those lean proteins to create optimal weight loss, optimal building of lean muscle mass and that mental quality. So it’s not about eliminating anything. It’s about making choices and sometimes making smaller choices over a period of time and it allows your body the ability to digest and use the fuel. And again I always think, log on the fire, log on the fire, log on the fire. Keep my metabolism high so it’s always burning.

>>Kjersti: Uh huh, absolutely and another thing to is you know how many shakes a day? I know you are at a very, well I mean I would have to say that your body fat has to be low, that your BMI is probably right where you want it. How many shakes are you doing a day? I know some professional athletes are doing, you know, 4 to 6 shakes a day cause you know the demand that they’re putting on there bodies. Whereas some people like just 1 shake every morning for breakfast. Are you doing a couple shakes a day yourself?

>>Suzan: I do 2 shakes a day and if I can’t do 2 shakes a day I’ll do a shake and then IsaLean bars. I mean I just love the bars. When they said we couldn’t get them for the summer I placed my order and shipped you know almost 20 boxes to Canada. I’m getting my bars. [laughter]

>>Kjersti: You know I missed the deadline. I wanted to do that. But, ok well let’s move on because nutrition is a huge deal. I know that the rest of the key components that you’ve got going on are probably not going to take near the time but I think that everything that you shared was very important information and certainly you know grounds for success when people follow those guidelines. Now the next 1 is water. How important is water for people and what types of role does it play when it comes to fitness, weight loss and those types of things?

>>Suzan: Well you know water I mean a large percentage of our body, Kjersti, is water and keeping our bodies hydrated is so great for health. And you know they say that water actually will assist in keeping you healthy. And oftentimes we don’t drink enough water. Most of us walk around very dehydrated. One of the things that you want to do is you know is you want to ensure that you’re drinking the amount of water that’s required for your body weight. One of the key things around summer is summer we tend to be thirsty, we tend to be drinking more and we tend to at times choose things that aren’t healthy for us. You know the soda pops come out. The different you know juices comes out. And where I think Isagenix is so awesome is you know we’ve got our IsaFruits. We’ve got our Lot More Energy. We’ve got our greens. I love the mixture of the greens with the Lot More Energy and just you know sipping that throughout the day. There’s so many things that are great for us to be drinking that aren’t high in sugars, aren’t high in caffeine, aren’t high in sodium and they’re super fruits.

They’re fuel for our body and to be sure that we get that water in us. But I think that the other key thing is you just want to be drinking and consuming water to keep your body hydrated. One of the things I also challenge everyone to begin to distinguish is whether you’re thirsty or hungry. Because sometimes my body will need water and I’ll actually feed myself and think I should be eating. And when I put that water into my body and I hydrate my system I actually realize, I’m not hungry. I’m thirsty. So and you know hydration is you know the recipe for great health. We flush our system when we have water. It’s almost like the waterway that removes impurities from our body, helps flush us out but then again it’s also what hydrates every cell in our system. What I want to ensure and everyone on the call you want to ensure is as this month gets hot, that you’re hydrated. You’re drinking water. And it’s a habit and 1 of the tricks I do a lot if you go to my house at my desk when I’m working, there’s a 1.5 liter bottle of water. I have 1 in my bedroom. When I go to my car I bring some water with me and I just have it there and it’s just a matter of getting into the habit of drinking a glass of water first thing when you wake up in the morning. And most of us reach for coffee, reach for your glass of water. Hydrate your body, flush your system before you put anything in. Last thing before you go to bed, reach for that glass of water, you know and just get into that habit of you know those you know 8 ounces on a regular basis. It’s so good for optimal health.

>>Kjersti: Uh huh, especially in the summer months when it’s hot, it’s hot. I mean you I heard a rumor. I don’t know if it’s true. Maybe you can tell me if it is or not but if you feel thirsty, you’re beyond the, you know the replenishing phase. You are in the dehydration phase. And so continually you know feed your body you know that yummy, delicious water that it needs is quite a big deal. And I’ve also, this is 1 of the big things, is that when I’m coaching people through any program and they say that they’re results are not as profound as what you know I would think would be average I would say, you know that is 1 of the things that I always check in, I don’t know if you do that Suzan of you know like, ok how much water are you drinking? Are you drinking coffee? You know, what are you drinking? And it’s such a big deal. Now I know that — now as far as fitness goes I know you’re very knowledgeable when it comes to this and I’m very excited for you to get into this because summer you know, this is what the call is all about. You know what can people be doing that will be you know fun, keep their bodies healthy and so forth? And so why don’t you share with everybody, you have a personal trainer and you would think that you know with as athletic you are, as you are, and with as much experience as you have that maybe Suzan Hart would not need a personal trainer so maybe you can share with everybody why. Why do you have a personal trainer?

>>Suzan: You know the reason I have a personal trainer, as I said at the beginning of the call, my health like anyone else’s, is a journey and I only know what I know. So you know in order to challenge my body, in order to change things up, I also work with a personal trainer. I don’t work with him every single day but we check in, you know I’ll do workouts with him. He’ll give me some new things to incorporate into what I’m already doing and part of it is to have that change. You know our muscles get accustomed to certain movements. Our muscles get accustomed to certain exercises and it’s when we change those exercises that we promote the growth. We promote the strengthening and conditioning of our body but part of it is I work with a trainer because I want that other eye in terms of what I need to do differently. I want new ideas and I want someone looking at how I’m doing what I’m doing. You know oftentimes I see individuals go to the gym and they haven’t worked with anybody and they’re lifting weights that are far too heavy. They’re doing exercises and their posture is off. You know their core isn’t strong and I’m sitting here going oh my goodness, this is a recipe for a possible injury or they’re working really hard and they’re not going to get the results that they’re seeking because they aren’t doing the exercise properly, they aren’t doing the exercise as strictly as it should be and if they would lighten their weight and do the exercise properly they would get so many more benefits. So 1 of the beauties of working with a trainer is 1 is when your trainer is knowledgeable he’ll make sure you’re doing everything or she will make sure you’re doing everything you’re supposed to. They’ll have that other eye and they’ll see things in terms of your movement, that you won’t see so absolutely I work with a trainer because I want a chance to be changing up my routine and I want information that I don’t have. I want that new knowledge. And you know when everyone on the call I’d recommend that fitness happens in a whole bunch of areas.

I know people who go to the gym. They lift weights and that’s what they do. I know individuals who run and that’s what they do and you know long term health comes from great cardiovascular health. It comes from great strength training in terms of lifting those weights and building those muscles and strengthening your bones. It comes from stretching. You know I’ve had many injuries and oftentimes it’s because I haven’t been stretching enough. You know strength comes from range of motion and range comes from how often you stretch. Stretching is a great part of it. You know conditioning your core and strengthening your core and that’s that mid-section, it’s that abdominal section, you know it’s that center in your body and working on that will you know prevent you know things like lower back injuries, lower back discomfort because you’re now centering your body and you’ve got a stronger core. So you know and I like to tell people think about cross training which means that you’re doing different types of activities on different days and you’re always changing it up so your bodies always saying ok what’s happening today so you’re keeping it fresh. You know our physical fitness does not occur in 1 area. Optimal fitness occurs when you’re looking at your fitness in a complete way, when you’re doing your strength training, when you’re doing your cardio, all the different things. I think 1 of the beautiful things about summer is to me summer is about movement and movement can happen so many different ways. Go hiking, you know, go biking, go, you know, rollerblading. There’s all these different ways that we can move our body that’s fun. You know I recommend that families go out and have a game of soccer or a game of flag football, whatever it is, have fun with it because the key thing around exercise is moving your body for 30 minutes or more and having fun with it. And oftentimes you know in our busy lives we are socialized to look at exercise as going to the gym and it’s a strict you know thing that we do and it’s often not made to be fun. Exercise can be so much fun. You know I had a lady she said I don’t like to exercise. I said well do you like to dance? She said absolutely. I said well go dance 30 minutes. I said dance around your living room for 30 minutes. Dance with your children for 30 minutes. You’ve just got in your cardio. And she was like oh my goodness. That was so much fun.

>>Kjersti: Hmm, I love that, I love that. And you know especially like you said, I love hiking. I love it. I love getting outdoors, getting all that fresh air, you know, out from the city, you know just go to have fun. Now you had said something earlier on about it’s not just about you know how your jeans look on you or the exterior appearance and you know true health is more than just weight loss as well. I mean it is about you know about what’s going on the inside at a cellular level. That’s what Isagenix is all about in cleaning out the body, providing the body the fuel and the tools that it needs to repair, replenish, revitalize and really step into a state of anti-aging and so when you’re talking fitness I love your examples of everything to focus on. It’s not just about you know weight training. It is about cardiovascular and so forth. So let’s move forward a little bit into the internal health aspect of things and what do you see that’s really key and important when it comes to internal health and well being?

>>Suzan: You know this part is so in alignment of what Isagenix does. Because although Isagenix helps people relieve pounds and inches building muscle, they do it in a way that promotes our internal health. You know we emerge from whatever program we do healthier than we started. I emerged healthier than I started. And what I’m going to say to everyone is your health is also what’s going on inside. If you haven’t had your blood work done and you don’t know where you stand, go get it done. And for me you know when I look at my internal health I look at my blood work thing, is there things I need to educate myself on in terms of what do I need to do differently, right? It is, am I resting enough? Is my body having an opportunity to recover on a nightly basis? And it’s working — and you know because we don’t see it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. And people come to the table with different challenges around their internal health. And oftentimes our internal health can be managed by us consciously taking it on. My girlfriend went to her doctor, he told her a few things that she didn’t like to hear and we got on the phone and we said ok well let’s take this on as your next 90 day challenge. And the next time you go to the doctor these are all going to be improved.

So we talked about exercise. We looked at what she was eating. We looked at what she was drinking. We looked at how her Isagenix products can enhance in different areas and it was so interesting because she began to put that internal health in the forefront and she started managing what was she doing on a daily basis? How was she managing her stress? Was she sleeping enough? Was she drinking enough? And we began to look at how can we manage this in a very productive way? You know 1 of the things that I took on over the last year was getting enough rest because I tend to push myself and I tend to not sleep enough and sleep is where my body recovers. It’s where everyone’s body recovers. And 1 of the things I took on you know since January, is 7 hours of sleep a night. Do I get it every night? I do not but do I get it 5 nights out of 7, yes I do. And I work towards that goal but it’s something that I’ve taken on. So what I’m going to put out to everyone is to look at what are your habits around your internal health? What are the things that you may need to change and don’t leave it in someone else’s hands. Take it on. Go in and say doctor, what can I do about this? You know and start with what you can do personally or I can do personally do manage what’s happening internally and to keep it in the forefront. And you know it’s interesting because like you know many people I had a few health challenges and it was about me being responsible in my choices in my day to day activity, in my choices around nutrition, in my choices around my exercise that allowed me to get to master that and you know have it managed in an affective way and knowing that my health is a journey. So it’s not that I manage it today and forget it 3 weeks from now if I manage it day to day. And those 90 days create those habits because it’s in the forefront and so now I’m creating a new habit around this area of my health that I’m going to continue as my life goes on. So remember, this is a journey.

>>Kjersti: Yeah, I love that, I love that. Is your health a destination or is it a journey? Because don’t you think that’s a perfect question to answer a question of hey how long do I need to be on this whole, like you know, Isagenix stuff? [laughter] You know because people that have never been on a system like this, cause lets say that Isagenix is so different in so many ways and it’s definitely something to be proud of and I get that asked and I know other people have to. It’s like how long do I have to do this 30 day program for, for the rest of my life? It’s like ok what is it? Is your health and wellness a destination you’re wanting to get to and just using it for 90 days or is it a journey? I mean do you seek after quality of health you know for the remainder of your life. And of course going back to the 80/20 it’s just all about having fun too. Well ok so let’s move on to the health team, I should say, the health team because — and I know, at least I would assume, the health team stands for the support system. I know that you talked about your personal trainer in being part of your support system. You also mentioned the lady that went to the doctor that didn’t really like what she heard and you challenged her to, you know set forth a 90 day action plan and to go back in and see the improvements of the health with her doctor so I would assume that those are the types of things that we’re talking about here when it talks to the health team.

>>Suzan: Absolutely and you know I’ll speak personally, my health team consists of a dynamic awesome chiropractor who I’ve been working with for 3 years now and I’ll say to you he’s done so many wonderful things around my health. I also work with a massage therapist and you know having been an athlete throughout my life, I have some old injuries and it’s a combination between my chiropractor and my massage therapist that keep me healthy and not with discomfort. So that’s part of my health team. I’ll tell you part of my health team is the person who does my pedicures and my manicures. One thing I’ve learned when I get a pedicure done, it increases the circulation for me. You know healthy feet are so important and we minimize it but I’ll tell you if you look at people with health challenges, healthy feet are 1 of the key indicators. So I make sure I take care of my hands, I take care of my feet and it’s also an opportunity for me to pamper and take care of myself. So that’s part of my health team. I have a nutritionist for a consultant and I check in with and when I need more information I have a nutritionist I go to. She does an evaluation with me. She tells me where things are at and I get a picture of what’s going on with my health. You know I have my personal trainer.

I go to a physio therapist and part of that you know, what I’m putting out to everyone is do you have health needs just assisting you around your health? Some people say gosh that sounds so expensive or complicated and I’ll tell you in the long run it is inexpensive because you know I’m in the mode of prevention. I’m in the mode of you know I’m going to do today everything that I can to maintain that optimal health so I can age gracefully and I can age from that point of knowing I’m going to have health. And you know I truly believe that when I have that vision of optimal health and I keep it in the forefront, I increase my chances of absolutely maintaining it and I see nothing else for my future but optimal health. And you know Kjersti the last thing I want to say is that you know I know that my health is the foundation that everything in my life sits on. You know and I’ve committed not to put my health on the back burner. My Isagenix business sits on my health. My relationship with family and friends sits upon my health. You know my own ability to be creative and dream sits upon my health. And you know I was presenting the other day and I said when you don’t have your health it’s interesting how you stop dreaming. It’s interesting how life comes to a grinding halt. And as soon as you reclaim it everything opens up again. So I tell everyone, secure that foundation that is your health. Secure it. Keep it in the forefront. Continue to have those targets, continue to have the conversation with yourself and building your life around your optimal health plan and that’s when beautiful things happen.

>>Kjersti: Hmm, I love that, that is so well said and you know and I will just add it to this I think that was perfectly said when you said you know is your health a destination or a journey? I just love it. I’m going to adopt that if you don’t mind because that is the best question that you could ask someone and I just want to thank you Suzan for all of your expertise, your time and energy and putting forth you know the information that people can take with them to make sure that they have a well rounded you know health plan for their IsaSummer and we do appreciate you. You have fun this weekend at the Isagenix University and say hi to everybody for us.

>>Suzan: I know Kjersti, thank you so much for having me join you and I will definitely have an awesome time at Isagenix University. I know every time I attend I take away some new nugget and I hear things I’ve never heard before and hear things differently that expand my business. I’m looking forward and I hope that many people on the call will be joining us because we are going to have a dynamic time. It’s going to be lots of fun.
